Vaux Calibra ABS light not on
Discussion
My 1993 Calibra 16v just failed its MOT with a "ABS warning light inoperative". Basically, the warning light never comes on, even when I first switch the ignition on. I've paperclipped the ALDL connector, didn't get any warning codes relating to ABS, and its def not a bulb gone. Any ideas? I only want to get it an MOT then sell it. It hasn't been driven for a few months if that might have any bearing on the problem.

embarrased to say I hadn't thought of that, but checked ABS fuse, all A-ok, still stumped! I could understand there being a problem if warning light was on all the time, but didnt know not on was a MOT failure. All the garages I ask say is they can do a fault diagnostic, but £40 minimum, and I checked that myself, with no faults. damn cars....
So, you've checked all the fuses for the car.....it's not unheard of for some systems to use fuse feeds from other circuits.
You say the bulb hasn't gone.....have you changed it?
these little bulb holders have been known to fail.
see if you can get hold of a system diagram and go from there.
The ABS warning lamps operation has been part of the MOT for years.
