Apologies if I'm being over-cautious but just want to be sure on something.

A few years back I had an account with an online investment platform, probably had a grand in there as I was just messing around a little.

Some it was a S&S ISA.

I've not been near the account for several years and certainly haven't paid anything directly into it or added anything directly for several years.

I think I set it so that any returns were paid into the account - I can't be sure as they've changed their login procedure and I need to write to them after new years to get access to the account.

Anyway, I know you can only open and invest in a single S&S ISA each year so my question is whether this "dormant" account would count for the current year or if I'm absolutely fine opening a new S&S ISA with a different provider?

I should add that the timing of this question is co-incidence and has nothing to do with annual limits etc.

As long as you haven’t contributed new cash to the existing account since April 6th 2017, you are free to open another one (this time for 2017/18) with any provider.
