Audi 1.8/2.0 tfsi oil consumption
Discussion
All,
I have a '09 A3 1.8t. Re-mapped. Only had the car a few months and all good so far. But I've been reading online about the oil consumption problems with the 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines from that era. Something to do with the piston rings.
I'm thinking to ask Audi to do an oil consumption test on my car just as a precautionary measure. Has anybody had it done, or any experience of the issue at hand? Was it a certain engine code or batch that was affected?
Many thanks.

Why not do it yourself?I'm thinking to ask Audi to do an oil consumption test on my car just as a precautionary measure.
Check and mark (or measure) the oil level on the dipstick, drive 1000 miles and check again. I think that's all Audi will do for their couple of hours labour charge.
At least when I had a BMW 323i with the Nikasil bore wear problem, that's all the BMW dealer did. Of course I let them do it as was under warranty and I ended up with a new block fitted but on a 9 year old car I'd be checking it myself, at least initially...
