New 4k TV set up help with Tivo & xbox one
Discussion
Hi,
Was hoping someone could lend an insight into the best way to set up my new LG 4k TV with my existing gear. Currently I have a Virgin Tivo box which goes into my original Xbox one via HDMI then into my old tv (non smart) again via HDMI. This allows me to control everything through my Xbox one, essentially using it as media center/tv/games console.
I am wondering what is the best way to connect these devices to the new 4k TV in order to get best picture quality? Should i still route the virgin signal through the Xbox or connect it direct to the telly? The Tivo box doesn't do 4k (as far as i know, its an older 500gb model) but does do HD so does it even matter? Someone said to me that i should connect the Tivo direct to the TV as the up-scaling will be better but i dont know if this is the case.
Be interesting to know peoples thoughts.
Cheers.

OK so, things have changed slightly. I'm getting a Virgin TV V6 box at the weekend which does output 4k. Does this change anything? Will routing through the xbox then to the telly render the signal back down to 1080i?
Sorry if these are basic questions, i'm new to all this 4k/UHD AV stuff and want to make the best of the new kit i have.
Thanks,

Cannot help with the xbox etc. but if you have to buy a new HDMI lead, don't get caught out wasting money on an expensive one for the 4K.
Few quid is all that is required for the correct certified lead (Amazon basics etc.). Try existing leads first, if they pass 4K then crack on, no benefit in spending more.

Thanks for the reply's.
I'm surprised the Xbox one X doesn't have a 4k pass through! Sort of makes its 4k claims a little redundant when the broadcasters start to show 4k TV, which looking at the Virgin website i don't believe there is any 4k content on broadcast TV at the moment any way. I only have a normal Xbox one so it definitely wont have a 4k pass through.
I can watch 4k streaming direct via Netflix, iplayer, etc. through the TV anyway (which i presume is better as there are no cables to worry about, just a clean picture) so bearing all this in mind would it matter passing the TV6 through the Xbox or would i still get a better picture plugging direct into the TV?
As an aside, Blue Plant 2 in UHD (4k) on iPlayer looks amazing!
