The ABS light on my Polo intermittently keeps coming on. The plug in diag tool is reporting a faulty speed/ABS sensor.

Before replacing it, I’ll try giving the existing sensor and connectors a clean, but pre-empting I that I do need a new sensor, I have priced up a few options, which is getting a bit bewildering:

From dealer: £136
ECP Bosch £90
ECP Eicher £44

There are plenty of cheaper ones still on eBay

A couple of mechanics in the past have advised against non-genuine sensors, but that was relating to engine sensors. Does this also apply to other sensors?

So forgetting about the £10 eBay sensors, how much is likely to be a diminishing return? How can the dealer genuine VAG sensor be x3 more expensive than the Eicher? I don’t want to have to replace it again in 6 months’ time but equally I don’t want to spend more than I need… I don’t know anything about Eicher – are they any good?

Thanks

The Eicher one will work fine, numerous reasons for the difference in price not always down to the product quality.

If the Eicher one isn't upto spec then you would soon know as the ecu would throw another code up.

Id personally choose the Bosch as Eicher are euros cheap brand and ive not had much luck with their other braking products.
