I am seriously considering coming back to the fold of Chimaera ownership. I had a 4.0 for a year a while back and loved it. I swapped it in the end due to a combination of the Taxman and nervousness over mechanics (it was a 94 car and mileage was climbing).

The quandry is do I buy a 5.0 this time around? I love the idea of the extra grunt but is cost of ownership significantly more? Are they more tempremental? I will probably be looking for something like an R at around £20k.

Any advice or comments gratefully received...

My Chim 500 is just about to be part ex-ed against a Tuscan. Drop me a email if you're interested as the dealer will add 1000's to resale. It's a 98, rosso red, speed12 front, 19k miles, PAS and has 20mths warranty

So you think I doth protest too much

I would imagine there is very little, if any difference in the running costs between 4 and 5 litre, the parts (apart from the obvious) are the same, fuel consumption is too similar to compare (drive a 4 hard, drive a 5 gently etc..), servicing is the same (ish). my only concern is that the 5 (Griff anyway) is a bit twitchy around town. And I'd probably eventually wished I'd gone for power steering if I used it round town a lot..
