Buying VW at lease end
Discussion
Odd one this, can't see anything online.
Interested in buying my VW at lease end. I contracted on - and so paid within monthlies for - 20k total contract mileage. I'm closer to half that five weeks before the lease finishes.
The quote tool asks for current mileage and bases the cost to purchase on that, though the quote then says mileage is not verified and so no warranty is offered. It seems a bit rum to enter anything other than the contract mileage limit as I've already paid for the unused miles, but was that just my risk as the consumer?
Any thoughts appreciated.

I don't think they'll offer you a discount for doing less miles than you've paid for if that's what you are thinking?
No, I understand that.Jonno02 said:
I'd stick it right at 20k and see what the price is. They won't bother verifying it if you're buying the car.
That's what I was thinking. No moral issue as I've paid for the miles already. Just seems a bit too simple.iphonedyou said:

That's what I was thinking. No moral issue as I've paid for the miles already. Just seems a bit too simple. We just handed back a vw lease car at work with 30k less on it than it should have had. The price was non negotiable when it came to it and they based it off the mileage it had really done not what we had paid for.
Needless to say they were asking an awful lot of money for it and so we let it go.
Actually it was a lesson because we based the lease on good faith mileage done by an employee who subsequently begun to work from home more and so needed less mileage allowance. Vw wouldn’t hear a word of “decreased” mileage but they were happy to talk increases or excess mileage. If we ever lease again I shall make sure to lease at the low end of requirements.

Me too, I’d probably say 19k ish
Ha! Thought you'd guessed the quote correctly, then realised I hadn't stated the car or age.
As it was 19k.interstellar said:
Is that quote tool with VWFS or someone else?
Do you have a link if it is as Mrs Interstellars Audi is with VWFS and we might buy it at the end.
Thanks in advance

So you got a quote from them to buy, based on actual mileage done, but prior to handover?Needless to say they were asking an awful lot of money for it and so we let it go.

Definitely correct to underestimate your milage next time, either way.
