Oil System Flow Diagram
Discussion
My dry-sump system goes as follows: From tank to suction side of pump, exit's pressure side of pump into inline filter, exits filter into oil cooler, exits oil cooler via temp take off into engine main oil gallery via filter housing adapter plate.
Engine builder insisted that filter was after pump, ----pump expendable engine not! add to that, pumps--pump better than they suck !!

Start with the dry sump pump, it has three connectors underneath (Suction Side) and two connectors on top (Pressure side). First line comes from the lower part of the dry sump oil tank to the underside of the pump, the pump pressurises the oil and exits the pump by the connector directly opposite on top, from here the line goes into a suitable filter exits the filter, the line can then go through a thermostat and an oil cooler as per your diagram, when it leaves the stat or the cooler it then goes directly to the engine main oil gallery via a suitable adapter on the unused oil filter housing.
On the scavenge side, two lines leave the dry sump pan pass through indvidual inline scavenge filters and into the underside of the pump, these two lines are brought together inside the pump and exit via a single outlet on the topside of the pump(The return line is usually of a larger bore) and then returns to the dry sump tank via a connector at the top of the tank. The cycle is then repeated.
What do you mean by pre-lube?

Okay, that's a little more plumbing than I had suspected. I just got a flow diagram from a dry sump system manufacturer; Stef's. Ian, it's just as you described. That's a lot of hose(!) and a lot of oil(!) and a lot of travel for the oil.
In their four-stage system ($2,400), oil is drawn from the pan by three fitting-filtered lines into three ports on the bottom of the pump. Three lines out the pump top go to the top of the (1.5 gallon!) sump tank. One line from the tank bottom goes back to the bottom of the pump, then, out the top of that same pump section into the engine.
An optional cooler (and/or pre-lube) would install in the return line section. If a cooler is installed, the remote filter is also installed.
The pre-lube is like an Accusump, except designed only to provide line pressure before engine start-up.
The three-stage ($2,255) is identical, except for two pick-ups in the pan and the three-stage pump.
In the four-stage, the pan pick-ups are right- and left-rear, and left front.
The kit includes pump, pan, tank with heater and catch-can, remote filter, all mounting hardware, filtered fittings...everything but hose and hose ends.
To this, I would add a pressure warning light and buzzer alarm.
Your comments are appreciated...

How does the pre-lube work if it is in the return line?
Surely it needs to be in the supply line direct into the engine oil gallery.
Steve
P.S. The pipe fittings alone will break the bank.

Ha! That's what I was thinking about the fittings. There must be a more consolidated method. Is this really what it takes to run an efficient dry-sump system; the special pan, pump, oil tank, vent/overflow, remote filter, (pre-lube), thermostat and cooler?
Okay, here's the system. Any comments? This uses the stock pump for pressure. The pump will have an additional stage to run a trans cooler. There will be an oil stat and cooler. Took me way to long to draw that!!!
