In todays Sunday Times article about the travel firm TUi which is running holidays for Chinese car enthusiasts to have a high speed session on German autobahns.

I can't find a link, will keep looking but one thing which amused me.

Obviously the speed kills brigade are up in arms.

According to my understanding of their argument, this will be dangerous because the Chinese drivers are unused to high speeds, they don't have the training that German drivers have, which is demonstrated by the accident rate in China being very high despite having fewer vehicle and a maximum speed limit of 72mph.

Err, funny how they use our argument when it suits them!

I thought our yank friends have been doing that for years?

Besides, I've driven on the trunk roads in china, and the speed limit is 'as fast as your car will go'.

Problem is, that's 35mph for the horrible 50 year old trucks, and well over three figures for the big Mercs or BMWs.....

And when you see the swarms of cyclists there you can see why there are many accidents. Running redlighst as a cylcist no problem. Taking on huge lorries no problem. Can't balance cos too loaded no problem. Can't balance cos too mal-coordinated or 'old age' no problem.
