Hi all,

Probably a stupid question but some help would be greatly appreciated...

I'm interested in buying a car and have had an Hpi check undertaken by a friend. This has thrown up a STOP sign in Vehicle ID with the following issue

There are no Vehicle Details for VIN xxxx xxx (numberplate)

I've tried looking at the website and doing a Google search but have no idea what this actually means! Can anyone explain it to me please?

Thanks

Mastiff

Feel free to PM Reg Number that you have and full 17 digit chassis and I'll have a look for you.

Thanks Mastiff. I cannot message until I've been a member for 24 hours unfortunately... But can do so tomorrow if that's OK. I currently only have the number plate and not the chassis so I can phone and ask for that if it's needed.

No problem - in work today.

If car subject to cherished transfer that may explain the problem. Chassis number should tell us everything.

Are you searching for the VIN on the actual car? Maybe the VIN is wrong on the V5?

Years ago, I noticed that the VIN on my V5 didn't match the car (simple things like 5's instead of S's). Nothing dodgy, but I decided to get it sorted out and had to book an appointment at a local DVLA office for them to check the numbers and issue a new V5.

ETA : Obviously not, since you've said number plate not VIN.

Morning all!

I've sorted this now. My friend reran the report this morning and got the full details. Not sure whether it was a system glitch yesterday or some error they made... Probably the latter!

Thanks very much for the replies and the offer of help. I appreciate it 😀
