Hi,

I'm looking to buy a used automatic car for £2000-£3000. I'll mainly be using it for commuting (less than 15 miles each way) and occasional longer drives.

Looking for something reliable, good to drive and cheap to repair. If possible, any higher specced models would be preferable.

Hope you can help.

Suzuki Swift automatic? Supposed to be good fun and meet pretty much all the criteria. Not sure on the specs but they don't seem bad.

This. We have one on a 11 plate and its bulletproof. The 1.5 petrol is the one to go for, with the 4 speed auto in GLX or SZ4 (depends on age, you can only get auto in one spec. They both have the same features just name changed in 2010 when it was revamped). Ours is one of the last of the previous shape and has done 85000 miles. In 61000 miles it has cost us 4 tyres and 4 sets of brake pads, it was used to commute from Durham to Heathrow for a period so can hack long drives no sweat.

A Lexus springs to mind, not sure if you can get an IS250 for the budget though, might be slightly out of your price range.

Definitely can get a IS200 though, although it's almost 20 years old now.

The 2.0 can have lots of issues on these.
