Have we been ditched to the mods? They seem to be the only ones replying.

Apart from Al. He just locks threads.

Yes, Big Al does seem to be a bit trigger happy, for instance I was enjoying reading your "Ask a surveyor" thread, before it was pulled....

I appreciate generally Al does a good job, but he needs to ease off a bit, often interesting threads which are getting plenty of replies are moved to sub forums where hardly anyone sees them.

^^^^^^ Agreed. It’s the BS excuses that often don’t even make sense that annoy the most. There doesn’t seem to be much or any input from the third-party mods who were meant to be getting involved which is odd.

With regards to admin and management - it’s obvious that there’s no one out there running the site and hasn’t been for a long time. For some reason it’s just being allowed to bumble along by itself, slowly decaying. Fortunately there’s a lot of great members who effectively keep the place going despite HM’s best efforts to piss everyone off.

I’d be interested to know how many man hours are put into the site per week as I assume that the staff that are involved spend most of their time working on sister websites. Of course we’ll never find out though.

Al isn't the only mod on here remember!

There was a thread in Website Feedback asking if Haymarket had outsourced their moderation, it was quickly shut down and the topic closed... scratchchin

There was meant to be an announcement over half a year ago, but time stands still in PH Land.

ps. that thread was locked because Al reckoned that there were too many Ask A XXXX threads, however several others have started since and are still running. It makes no sense.

'reckoned that there were too many Ask A XXXX threads...........' - why would that be a problem??

Classifieds won't advance beyond page 1 for me (haven't done for weeks). Falling apart.

Exactly! No sense at all, they’re popular, interesting and harmless threads.

I remember when this was a fully operational website where the owners took an interest and there was a functional technical team!

Oh for the good old days!

I'd disagree that Big Al seems a bit trigger happy - moderation is generally prompted by reports - the more reports a thread gets the more likely it is to receive attention in the form of moderation

I reported a duplicate thread the other day - one had a thread title that was "content obvious" and had good discussion inside the thread

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

the other had a criptic reference to the news and discussion content IMO was poor

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Both links still work but one takes you to here

I guess the one that was created first got kept and as that is a rule rather than a sensible evaluation and considered action approach I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that it was one of the new "mods" that carried out the action.

Happy to be wrong but it just doesn't seem like the actions of one of the "Old Guard"

By OId I don't mean Old as in age.........

Oh feck it - Best stop digging I think
