03 Volvo S40 advice?

Hi

need a bit of advice with what to look out for on this car i'm going to have a look at

Volvo s40 03 petrol so pretty old , old MOT history says it's had a few rusty items , mainly brake pipes etc replacing, current advisory is only the handbrake though. 100k miles, MOT til October which is with the price it's selling for I would be pretty happy if I just had it til then, without spending much on it in the meantime of course.
Few minor scratches going by the pics, not sure If there's any history, what are the main things to look out for, anything particular with this model car? Should I be overly concerned about the mileage ?

Mileage not an issue however some of these are very rusty cosmetically now.

Couple of dealer cars nearby I can look at so not much of an issue is the Volvo's no good

Well ended up buying a different Volvo for a bit more money with the same miles but a year newer and in seemingly much better condition.

Driven home today about 50 miles, seemed fine except the temperature gauge only ever got to about 1/4 max, mostly it stayed even lower than that.

Just wondered if that's an issue I need to look at or am I fretting for nothing

I believe if the temperature is too low it suggests that the thermostat is stuck open, not allowing the water to heat up properly. I would get that fixed.
