2006 320d M Sport Touring
Discussion
Hello...long time lurker looking for some PH advice. I have the opportunity to buy a 2006 320d m sport touring with 130k miles for 2.5k. Blue with cream leather, 18" wheels, towbar etc a great spec and its immaculate. The downside...after its been left more than a few hours its very hesitant to start, turns over for ages. When car has been started recently it starts right away. My problem is i have a baby on the way and so am budget limited. Any advice on if i should buy this car or run away?
Depending upon how much you use the car, but kids come with an awful lot of crap. My father has a E9x 320d touring and when I’ve borrowed it I find I miss the extra space I get with my V70. Once you load a buggy and a bouncer for a weekend away, you’re not left with that much space for you and your partners gear.
A friend of mine recently bought a 2006 330d touring auto, 1 owner from new with radar cruise, cream leather and a plethoera of extras privately with a full BM and specialist Indy service history for 3k. If you’re set on a beemer, perhaps other PH’er can offer advice, but I’d want it much cheaper than 2.5k.
Can’t recommend a V70 more highly as a workhorse and a motor cruiser as long as you have a play thing in the garage to keep your PH spirit alive!

Sounds like one or more of the injectors is leaking which is why it struggles to start so walk away.
I'd suggest the MG ZT-T

Or these:
Insignia 2.0d SRI

Vectra 3.0d SRI

Mondeo Titanium X

The above maybe mainstream but they're probably going to be more reliable than the car you're looking at.

Could well be the glowplugs/heaters duff.
This should show up on most diagnostic scans.
Is this the engine with the timing chain issues?? If it hasn't been done, then run away, quickly.
At 130k you may be into new DPF territory.
And as said, they aren't a big car, and kids kit will soon overfill it. (I've had 2 Tourings, but my kids aren't kids any more so weren't an issue)
You won't want to hear it, but the Mundane-o is the more sensible buy.
This is Pistonheads, not Sensible :-)
