Just booked ferry for France in late May/early June for 3 weeks and I'd quite like to rent a small car for say two weeks. We're doing Cherbourg out and Roscoff back so I'd like to leave the motorhome on a site and travel round sightseeing in the diddy car. I don't need a big flash car, happy with say a ten year old dented and beaten up old Renault or Peugeot or a 2CV but all the hire companies want me to have a brand new car. Which I don't need.

Anyone any ideas? Anybody own one in Brittany and want to rent it out for a few days/couple of weeks or have any suggestions? Or maybe if a couple of other folk are doing this later in the summer, perhaps we could buy a cheapo one between us?

Thinking on that idea a bit further, what's the French equivalent of Autotrader?

If you shop around you can get fiat 500s for less than £9 per day, probably cheaper from airport pick his tho

Thanks for that custard but like a lot of things, it's never as cheap as they'd have you believe.

Tried a booking with Sixt in Morlaix and though the headline rate is £8 a day, by the time you add in airport location tax (but it's the same if you choose railway station?, insurance, CDW, etc it's actually closer to £180 a week. But thanks for the suggestion.

give autoeurope.com a try,
I use them for all countries we visit,
they do some cracking deals.

Thanks for that V40, seems I can hire a Fiat 500 for £120 a week. If that's the best I can do, reckon it'll be OK. Though I have found secondhand cars for sale on line from €300 but of course we all know the problem with cars that cheap, then I'll need insurance, MoT etc

I'm not sure that rules apply in France.
