Hi,

The vent fan on my early Tam has stopped blowing. The running/speed/temperature LEDs on the dash all work as expected and the AC solenoid operates on demand, I can't see any blown fuses so suspect an issue with the fan. I believe the fan is located behind the battery in the front nearside wing and wanted to ask before starting how good access to the fan is once the battery is out?

Any advice welcome.

Cheers

It's likely to be the heater amplifier module which sits behind the glovebox, accessible from the passenger footwell. The module has a well documented problem of melting a connector contact.
Here is a link to another thread about it.

There are quite a few other threads scattered in the TVR section of PH.

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the info. I'd had the amp unit out, it's fairly new and looks fine with no sign of overheating, but I didn't undertake any testing to prove it was defective (lack of available technology and wiring diagram). My plan was to check for power at the fan and try to run it from the battery to narrow down the search. I'm trying to estimate how much time I need to put aside for that bit.

Random Photo for good luck.

There is a PCB behind the dash that the heater/fan control ribbon cable connects to, this and its associated wiring can cause issues similar to yours.
