Good point, all the angst ridden teenagers are probably now in their late 20s, and probably still tone deaf.
Coincidentally I have been listening to that very album in my car for the last week. Personally I think DSOTM should have been no 1, but I can live with OK Computer. I'd have been happy with The Joshua Tree as well. I just can't believe Substance didn't figure anywhere - or did I blink and miss it?

I've always had a broad taste in music, and I've always considered myself knowledgable on the subjuct.
However, i was never aware of ok computer being especially big, even though i was of the likes of nevermind, automatic for the people and out of time (which didnt feature despite being one of the most important of the nineties).

There were so many great albums missing off that countdown. Nice to see Appetite For Destruction so high, but where's AC/DC's Back In Black, or Judas Priest's British Steel, or Def Leppard's Pyromania, or Metallica's Ride The Lightning, or Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA or anything by The Cure, or the Manic Street Preachers, or Deep Purple. What about Velvet Revolver, Franz Ferdinand, The Killers or The Zutons?
Watching it, I get the idea there was some kind of 'heaviosity blocker' in place - not a single metal band (with the exception of Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin) in it.
Just typical Channel 4 - very populist and predictable, but it pretends not to be. All cracks in the end though.
Different Class by Pulp should've been in the top 10 too.

well let's face it, they didn't really represent any other genre than rock/pop did they?
I mean, if any genre supports the album format it could well be jazz. No Bitches Brew, Kind Of Blue etc. etc.
But then again, I'd be surprised if any of Ornette Coleman's or Weather Report's efforts made it into the top three

Great Album. Seeing as it appears to be the 'people's choice', any day now I expect Bliar to tell the nation he's a Radiohead admirer. Though, there's a stonking track on it that may not go down to well on May 5...

TC16 - agree entirely - have a look at the nominations list (C4 website) - so many missing. Only Cure album nominated was disintegration (not a bad choice), and I know at least one person on here will agree when I ask where was Seamonsters? (my favourite album bar none)
