I’ve had my leased 520d SE since September and it is mainly fantastic - comfortable and very quiet - fast enough and economical for a big car.

However, there are two niggles - the first is that there is an intermittent hesitation (almost like a cough from a carburettor equipped car) when on a light throttle at rpm and more marked when cruising in traffic on the motorway at 65-70 mph.

My other gripe is the factory fit Dunlop tyres which, in anything other than completely dry conditions, really struggle for grip through the corners leaving the car to fall back on the ESP. While the car is in most ways superior to the F10it replaced I don’t understand why BMW would scrimp on what I consider to be tyres which are not up to the job. In my experience Pirelli, Michelin and particularly Continental are far superior.

Has anyone else experienced these issues?

Edited to add, the car’s been back to Dick Lovett in Bristol for a day in November for them to look at this misfire issue and then 2 days in December. It’s gong back in again in the middle of this month but so far they’ve turned up nothing in terms of being able to identify the cause/ sort it out - which is starting to become very frustrating. The car’s done about 8,500 miles

I had a similar issue with my 2016 F30 320d - turned out to be a faulty EGR valve replaced a few months ago under a "quality enhancement" programme (reading into it it was potentially a change required due to there being some emissions "irregularities")

Revised part and revised software calibration and its 90% better - there is still a faint stutter if you really look for it but its much better.
