Bit of a dilemma , I have owned my e30 mtech 2 for 22 years it’s been garaged and hardly driven for 10 years it’s very good condition and I love it , but i have been looking at bmw e92 m3,s and would need to sell the e30 to be able to buy one , question is keep the e30 hoping the value can only go up or get rid and enjoy the 4 litre v8 ,I have just had the original bbs rims refurbed and ready to go back on , here’s a pic of her , full leather with rear headrests etc

Hold on to it would be my bet. I remember selling my 318is for £1800 about 8 or so years ago. I regret that now seeing the prices.

A friend of my Uncle used to have a Ferrari F40. He part exchanged it with £10,000 cash for the then new Ferrari 430 Spyder.

With the benefit of hindsight, that was a monumentally poor decision, financially. He now knows he will never ever be able to afford an F40 ever again.

Learn from his error and keep your E30.

Keep it, as lovely as the E90 M3 is it's not without its issues, given the option I'd take the E30.

E30 m3 prices have pulled the sports values up with them, but it can’t keep on going , your car looks stunning and probably has a bit to rise yet but you would regret selling for sure

I would keep it if I were you, as someone else said earlier on, you might not be able to afford/justify one as good if you decided that the E92 wasn't for you. Plus mtech 2's are the most highly sought after non M3's of the E30 from what I've seen price wise.

If you like the E30, keep it, values are going nowhere but up.

If you don't like the E30, invest in electroshock therapy or something.

Thanks for all your advice and kind words , I must have had a funny moment as I don’t think after owning it for so long I could bring myself to sell it , I’m hoping to get it on the road this year , will post some pics up with the bbs alloys on, ill have to wait and save for the m3

This is a pic of when I bought it in 1997

Whilst you could keep it it’s only metaland you could die this year or next too many ppl I know have decided against doing things and to wait and then not get the chance through poor health or death!

If you can’t sell it for sentimental reasons transplant the v8 into it or the v10

What is an E30 Mtech ?

For sure it’s not an M3 even though it has a badge on it. Would be good to know.

Is it a factory car or aftermarket conversion ?

I’m going to go against the grain here and say sell it. I had one and didn’t really rate it all that much. I loved the build quality and note of the straight 6 but that was about it. When it got written off by someone reversing in to I didn’t miss it in the slightest. Now my mk1 golf gti I did miss.

It’s just a car and not even an M3. Another poster comparing an E30 to an F40 risiduals wise is... well.... slightly off point imo.

If you are not going to enjoy it why keep it! If you would drive a e92 then make the jump. No point having a car in the garage and your passion is cars and you don’t have one to drive.
