unfortunately i have recently found a nail on one of my brand new GT3 tires. I will probably have to replace the tire as i was told that the tire will lose its speed rating if patched. I'm currently having problems sourcing an N1 spec cup 2 tires. Do you think if i use a N0 (991.1 GT3) tire on one of my wheels it would affect the way the car would drive ?

Dave(aka Fokker) of this parish suffered the same after picking up his new GT3 in November..IIRC he got a new tyre from Camskill and had it fitted at the nearest OPC..I would never put a NO tyre on a N1 spec brand new GT3 as it would cause issues with insurance and warranty..I took out a three year Tyre insurance on my new GT3 and now seems a sensible move as one new rear Dunlop Maxx Race 2 excluding fitting is £485 from Camskill which is basically what my insurance cost..

I asked my OPC if I could purchase the wheel and tyre insurance but was told that they don’t offer it? (Porsche GB OPC)

Can it be purchased through another opc?

Porsche don't offer Wheel insurance on GT cars but they do offer Tyre insurance..

Has nothing to do with insurance. But one would have more grip than the other, so it’s a daft idea to fit 1 odd tyre.

As far as I know, nothing to do with warranty either as both are N rated. I'd be very surprised if Porsche managed to get out of a claim based on the wrong N rating.

The changes between the various Nx ratings aren't public, but the move from N0 to N1 might be down to something as innocent as a change of material in the tyre which has zero performance related consequences.

It's a bit of a minefield but I'd definitely take an N0 tyre over no tyre.

I got tyre insurance on our Macan GTS recently from MB & G insurance in Newcastle. They deal with a lot of franchises dealers all over the country including our BMW dealer.

The 21” Macan tyre insurance is £6.99 a month and allows 5 claims per year with no excess.

I will be using them for the GT3 as well but expect it will be a bit more expensive for these Tyres.

Hi all-

I just took delivery of my baby this week.

I'm immediately switching to winter tires, and then plan to put on something less aggressive this summer. I won't be tracking.

If the OP (or anyone) wants my unused OEM tires, let me know.

You can have them at whatever 50% of retail/Tire Rack is. Pickup only, Philadelphia area.

Thanks,

-Mike

No it’s £6.99 per month for all Tyres and gives upto 5 replacements a year.

The GTS is a superb daily car with greater handling and performance than an SUV should have cool

Fuel consumption is low 20’s. But I didn’t buy it for the fuel economy

Michelin/Porsche have upgraded the tyre specs for both GT3 and RS for gen 2 (and also GT2 RS) and they have changed a fair bit but I don't know exact details.

The new specs have moved to more dry grip, this is where some of the laptime has come from, but also a bit less wet grip.

For example the new N2 spec 265/35 front, as found on the GT2 RS, replaces the N1 from the RS and will get fitted to new gen 2 RS. Having lined the tyres up side by side the profile was a touch different and the new N2 was about 4mm wider.

Basically I don't think it's possible to get exact details but I wouldn't mix and match fronts and rears, i.e. go for gen 1 GT3 N0 all round and not a mix of gen 1 N0 front and gen 2 N1 rear.
