Hi folks, I’m managed to take my only key for a swim a few weeks back and the remote locking stopped working. No big deal I thought but now every time I unlock the car with the key the alarm goes off. Irritating.

So, does anyone know what the best solution is to repair? I can’t seem to get a replacement key coded to the alarm, and can’t deactivate the alarm.

I’d live without the remote central locking if the alarm could be deactivated.

If you have any advice I’d be mega grateful as it’s driving me mad! Being a 986 I don’t want to spend mega money but it would be nice if someone could recommend a cost effective fix.

Does the alarm go off as soon as you unlock the door? On the 987, there is a time delay to allow you to turn the ignition on. Providing you do this within a few seconds, the alarm doesn't go off.

I get about 3 seconds before the alarm goes off. Then I cannot unlock passenger door without getting back out and lock unlocking the drivers door. So need a fix to prevent insanity onset!

It’s more than 3 seconds, more like 6.

Unlock drivers door with the key, start engine, unlock central locking with the button on the dash

No, I get 3 seconds. Once key in ignition, the unlock button on the dash doesn’t operate.

Same issue here - both my keys have died through old age.

Get the key in the ignition and turned 2 clicks (not sure if the last bit is necessary) and the alarm won't go off.

Once the engine is started you should be able to unlock the CL using the button, or just reach over and pull the interior handle (central locking 2CV style!)

FWIW - Revolution say they'll fix keys for £130+VAT, which whilst still not cheap, is a LOT less than Porsche want. Mine will be getting done next time the car goes up there.
