Got a 66 passat and it takes 5-10 mins for the Aircon to get warm.

I had an A4 before and it was pretty much instant.

Obviously it's still under warranty but wondering if this is usual for the passats?

I think he means taking ages to heat up.

No mention of engine type either, diesel or petrol rolleyes

If petrol - duff main thermostat

If diesel - probably a duff heater thingy. Diesels do naturally take ages to warm up fully.

As it's a 66 Passat it will be a diesel as VW stopped importing petrol Passats until very recently.

As said diesels take a fair time to heat up especially during the winter and many have electric auxiliary heaters to heat the cabin up until the coolant gets up to temp.

Sorry yes its diesel.

I'm guess this is slightly less convenient than the Audi heating system then.

My A5 had an electric (I think!) aux heater - so it was almost instant warm air. Probably the same in the A4, and guessing not in the passat?

What engine is it? Wife has a Tiguan with the latest 2 litre diesel and it blows warm air in seconds.

Joys of an air cooled car, almost instant heating.

On the down side, it could kill you with an exhaust leak smile
