I am the owner of a beautifull 3 year old Caterham 7 SV 160BHP which i love.
My wife hates the car and has only been in it twice. the second time was to visit a TVR dealer where we have agreed a p/ex for a 8 year old 4.2 Cerbera with 12,000 miles on it.
Has anybody else made this move and, do they regret it?

how could anyone regret getting a cerbie? Lucky person!
Can't answer specifically but suspect you won't get much other than positive comments about the move in these parts. Had a friend who was dead set on a TVR but had concerns about convincing his wife, took her to test drive all sorts of unsuitable cars first - caterhams/atoms etc by the time they got to the tvr should thought it was such an sensible option that it sailed through her suitability test : )
I wouldn't worry. You only hear about the problems on here. Nobody wants help/advice/a second opinion/to moan/etc. on a car that's running perfectly. There are countless other cars that you haven't heard about that have run perfectly from the day they were made to this.
A good rule for TVRs... look after them and they'll look after you, and that includes using them often.

Look after it and you'll be fine. Be prepared for the odd niggle here and there and budget £2k - £3k per year for servicing/repairs (may well be less, could be more if you're unlucky). Had mine for 6 months and don't regret buying one at all
Years ago I went from a 1.8vvc Caterham to a Chimaera 4.0HC. Completely different drive and feeling but the TVR crowd are a great bunch. Never looked back!
(I changed as my wife could not get in/out of Caterham due to a hip problem - unfortunately I now cant get her out of the driving seat of the Tuscan!
PS had a 4.5 Cerbera that drove faultlessly for the time I had it!

I've had my chim 3 years with no problems at all, definately not unreliable! Especially as he is driven loads and is looked after very well. as all the other posts state looked after well they are brilliant.
I'm a former Chimaera owner (now running an S2000) and I think that TVR's in general get a bad rap. That said, I think I'm right in saying that Cerberas have (or at least had) a bit of a track record with leaks or water ingress, so I'd lift the carpets and take a really good look to see if there are any tell take signs of water or damp before you buy.
Stunning looking cars though, and thankfully the driving experience means you'll forgive the car for most of its niggles ...
