The company that I work for has a scheme that lets you buy company shares at a discount every 6 months that you can then hold/sell as you wish.

The shares are in USD and held by a US broker. Should you sell the shares, the funds are held in your broker account and you can then transfer them to your account in the UK.

Whilst this transfer can be done directly to a UK bank, am aware that most of them give you a crap exchange rate and/or charge you a fee for doing so has anyone done something similar or could recommend the best method to do this?

ive used it. really easy to use and you get the interbank rates, so not a complete rip off like many UK banks.

Just been having a look. As long as you avoid weekend transfersand transfer no more tan £5k a month then it is the interbank rate with no fees. Then you can transfer out to any UK account so will work fine and it does avoid the fees that the high street banks charge.

Just need to work out how you give the broker the reference number as it isn't obvious on their online forms. Thanks.
