Guys a domain a client wants us to buy for him is on sedo for £3500, is there any way we can find out how long its been for sale and is there any way to "haggle" with sedo?

Cheers

You could check on archive.org to see if it has captured the "for sale" landing page - this will give you some idea of how long it has been listed for. Or if not, it might show when the original content was removed, which will give you some idea of when the owner decided to list it.

Does the whois show the registrant or a privacy service? If it shows the registrant, then there are a number of well known domain traders, who are known to accept offers or not. Happy to advise if you pm me the domain.

You can make a counter offer on the SEDO system.

If it's a negotiable listing then you can make an offer, subject to a seller defined minimum. It's a buy it now then you can't, though you can ask one of the Sedo brokers to enquire on your behalf with the seller if they will take an offer. Most sellers will prefer to deal off Sedo though, due to their charges.

archive.org will help if the domain is parked with a sedo advert on it. Sedo themseles won't tell you how long a domain has been for sale for.

Sedo fee is 15% so you can get an instanrt £350 off if you deal direct. Whois, emails to admin@, webmaster@, googling the domain name, archive.org may all give clues as to who you should be speaking to.

Another little trick is to identify the owner is to use one of the whois history services. You can then check back and see who the owner was at different points in time.
