Kia Stinger - is it wrong to want one?

I visited the KIA garage yesterday to see if they had the new Stinger - big 4 door coupe thing with 3.3 V6 in it. They did! Salesman with very strange haircut (think Jedward, only not as cool) said they were getting a demo for test drives.

It is 42k and my current budget is about £500, but just wanted a good look.

I think it looks great, it has loads of space front, back and in the boot, it has all the toys, and the seats were comfortable. I'd certainly have one if I could afford the repayments. Yes, I know someone will tell me the Audi A7 is a better car, nicer inside etc. but I'm guessing the STinger will be a lot rarer, which is definitely part of the appeal.

Question was more 'Is it wrong to want one' rather than buy one. A more abstract concept if you will.

Should have done a Base price of 35000 and gone the Mustang route and have later versions cost more.

Akshally that's spot on. Would have a Mustang V8 all day over a Stinger. Had forgotten about those.

The GT Mustang started at 35, think they’re approaching 40 now, it’s a hell of a steal when compared to a BMW M car and it turns heads a lot more than BMW M cars. Get one, you can’t go wrong

I saw one in Aberdeen yesterday morning on the commute, it looked absolutely fantastic, I thought it was a Maserati at first, very striking car. It was 'primer grey', a colour I usually despise but it looked right in the misty, frosty twilight.

I can't say for sure if it was the full fat V6 petrol, but I am sure it was, it had 4 exhausts out the back.

The one I saw was also in primer/battleship grey, and it looked the dog's cojones.

It would have been the V6 - the 2.0 turbo petrol and the inevitable turbo-diesel aren't here yet.

I was driving along the M27 last week, and as I passed a junction, I saw a yellow Mustang V8 coupe with black bonnet stripes joining the motorway.

It looked bloody gorgeous. I was in the outside lane passing slower traffic, and the Mustang moved out behind me. The driver didn't tailgate me or anything, but the sight of that car in my rearview mirror was quite something - you could see the grill and the bonnet stripes and the shark-like lights. Quite menacing, and I loved it. I moved over when I could, put the window down, and the Mustang gave it the beans and came past - what a noise!

I want one. Urgently. Still like the Stinger as well. Would have to be the 'Stang, purely for the visuals and the noise. Probably in Yellow. With black go-faster stripes. And a V8. And a manual box. I think I'd better go and have a lie down and take my box of tissues.

Funnily enough I saw a blue one on Wellington Road recently and thought it was a Maserati at first as well (from the rear 3/4).

If I had £45k to burn and not worry about the residuals I'd have one

Chances are it wont as they'll sell that few that prices will remain firm,

It happened with the Citroen C6 and also with the VW Phaeton, for example(s)

And on that basis very few will actually buy them.

Noone will put £45,000 of cash in to one, and the finance deals wont be competitive enough

I think they're actually quite cool car. No one quite expects a Kia to have PH credentials but the Stinger certainly seems to.

I wouldn't be surprised if they end up quite rare but used bargains.

I hope it will delreciate like mad, but i doubt it will. Top spec late kias are holding their money very well, i wanted a sportage for the mrs with all the bells and whistles but the only cheap ones are low spec, the decent ones are holding their money far too well.
