'just stuck Eicher (from ECP) rear discs/pads on my son's e46, They seem absolutely fine.
I've no idea about their longevity, but at around £70 in total, I not that concerned. smile

That seems like remarkable value, did you have to replace the wear sensors?

I'd steer clear of ECP, I always got the wrong thing in the box.

Ring Jason at AllGermanParts, he's very helpful and stuff is usually with you within a couple days.

I cant recommend Eicher .... sorry wink fit OE BMW or Brembo etc but make sure the discs are coated/dipped because if you dont the top hats rust and look nasty in a very short period and on a BMW open style alloys this is generally exposed and looks st rolleyes renew the handbrake shoes at the same time its a false economy to leave the old ones in place IMO , dont fit Meyle discs either they may be coated but are poor quality rolleyes

I just put genuine pads front a rear on my E91. Very good bite from cold and nice pedal feel.

Unfortunately, yes that is "remarkable value" unfortunately they are so for a reason.

Mistakenly fitted them to an e39 530 Sport a few years ago, after 3 months I replaced the whole lot for branded discs/pads.

Can't remember if it was Pagid or Mintex but one or the other.

Resurrecting my old thread, haven’t changed the pads yet as the car gets little use a the moment. The garage told me the pads are down to 1/2 mm but I don’t get any warning light on the dashboard. My car isn’t idrive but I would still have thought I would get a warning light?

At 0.5mmm, I'd have thought so too!
My wife's 1 series had the light come on when the pads were about 2/3 worn. It's all about how the sensor sits in the pad.
(I told her to ignore the light, and replaced the pads about 4k miles later.)

Also, the sensor is only on one of the inner pads front and rear (near side front, off side rear). I've always found that the pads don't wear particularly evenly, so if the one with the sensor hasn't worn as much you can find one has completely gone without the warning lighting up!

Also agree re the cheap brands - I had similar experience to the above with cheap discs and pads - serious vibration / warping of the discs after not that many miles, made the car virtually un drive-able. Replaced with genuine BMW discs and never had a problem, no matter how hard I used the brakes!
