Anybody work for a House Builder / Developer?

I've recently started a role where I am trying to offer services around installing the meters for new build properties, Smart meters or old meters. Mostly targeting the smaller end of the market as they are often not served well by the big 6 suppliers, but we can do any size of job, all over the uk.

I've struggled to understand who exactly is responsible for this in the house builder, it doesn't seem to be procurement as there is no cost and they don't hold the stock, commercial manager or contracts manager seems to be mentioned, but still no concrete answer.

Just wondered if anyone could assist from their experience.

Every new build I have ever worked on the electrician leaves tails in the meter box for whichever main electricity supply utility comany to install the meter/connect and same with the plumber who pipes up into the meter box ready for the gas utility company to come along and install the meter/connect, both utility companies supply the meters

I work for a SME developer (120 units p.a) and we have a utilities manager who deals with this sort of stuff, or our in-house interior deaign get involved in speccing apartments with tech.

I am a project manager for a small/medium developer. I arrange connection to mains electric with UK Power Networks, once they issue me with an MPAN number I can call my choice of electric supplier and they will fit a meter. Smaller suppliers seem to contract this out to Seimens who I have found to be very unreliable. Currently using British Gas who seem good so far.

A lot of smaller developers haven't sufficient turnover to justify a dedicated procurement team leaving procurement in the hands of the QSs.
Last house builder I worked for had all prospective suppliers and contractors referred to the Commercial Manager. Anyone making a request was placed in the tender list and if you passed your PTQs and your tender offered best value you got the contract.

I work for Taylor Wimpey, 3rd largest we use British gas nationwide, EDF come and fit meters, before that it was Scottish power.

You need to speak to the utility companies I'd say
