If you were caught driving at 82mph in a 40mph limit, what would your punishment be??

Well it seems the driver of the squad car driving Chief Supt. Les Owens Head of Traffic Division for the Metropolitan Police, gets away with just 3 POINTS on his license!!

The Chief Supt. is a great supporter of Speed Cameras!

Paul Smith of 'Speed Safe' has called for Mr Owens resignation.

82mph in a 40mph limit??? 3 Points??? Its amazing what a crime speeding is EXCEPT when its done by either a member of the Police force or Government..

I was always brought up with "lead by example!"

Speeding is either dangerous or its not. There should NOT be less lenient punishment for the very people who inform us on a daily basis what a huge crime it is to speed and how many people it kills!!

Simply that i for one think its wrong and im prepared to put aside my 'Britishness' and protest against these things rather than bending over to have my backside kicked one more time..

The Police are the biggest hypocrites. When Hampshire Police were prosecuted when one of their unmarked cars was clocked for speeding they couldn't identify the driver. They were fined but nobody received any points, can you imagine a private company getting away with that? We have had speeding policemen let off because the camera signs had black edges to them. Your average Chief Constable is a government appointed lackey and I'm afraid that no matter how hard you try to keep to the speed limit they will get you. They are not going to sacrifice the money now, the business plans say so.
They do not care that they know that hand held radars are suspect - it's home office approved so thas all that matters. When it was proved in Dorset that a van driver who was charged with doing 51mph was actually only doing 13mph they came up with the excuse that it was 'reflected radar' a very rare phenomena. No explanation as to why they never manually checked the photo. In their dash for cash they are quite prepared to prosecute innocent people.
