I’ve been driving around for the last few weeks on a set of 18” Boxster ‘courtesy alloys’ while a scuffed 20” Carrera Sport alloy was being repaired by my OPC.

I thought the difference in ride quality would be huge between the sizes, but it ain’t.

I know these things are subjective but I hardly noticed any difference on 18’s and hardly any difference again when my 20’s were refitted today. Was there a difference? Yes, but so small I bet some wouldn’t even notice. If you like bigger wheel’s on your Porsche but are worried about the ride, don’t be. Alternatively, ignore everything I’ve just written and go try for yourself.

Other things I’ve learned today:
Porsche is halting all new car production from April to September (something to do with particulate filters).
The going rate for a flipped GT2RS will be £700-£750k

Can’t opine on wheel sizes, but the difference in switching from summer to winter tyres (one size narrower and softer/higher thread) is quite significant

700-750k - you’d have to be mad to pay that - isn’t that like 3 times the UK list price?
In Germany they seem to be listed in the high 400s to low 500s, so call it 150 - 200 above list

I wish I had that kind of cash!

Joked with my OPC they might do me a deal on an RS in the January sales for £10,000 biggrin . Said they were aware of customers having already done deals to flip for £700k. Yikes!

And there I had thought the market/pricing was slowly normalising again.... 700k gets you a F12tdf or a Carrera GT ... good if you can get it though, that is a nice profit (and even better if you can afford to pay 700k for one I guess)

I noticed this on my 997.2 C2. The ride on winters was lovely, much smoother than the 19 wheels I ran over summer. Quieter too and still lots of grip. I actually preferred it on the winters.

Ditto.

Is that true about production shutting down for 6 months?

Yep, no new deliveries April-Sept.

OPC did say this would boost used values over the summer as this would be their only way of making money (they get paid on delivery to the customer, not at point of sale).

The bun fight for good stock cars will begin shortly!
