What 2 seats, RWD, 400hp+ sports car would you buy for €50K?
Discussion
As the title says.
The musts: LHD, RWD, manual transmission, mid engine, 400 bhp + stock, a real 2 seater. The above are not negotiable.
The flexible: Prefer hardtop but a removable targa top would also do. No convertibles. Prefer front mid engine but rear mid engine would also do. Prefer western. Prefer naturally aspirated, supercharged, turbo, in this order. No more than 15 years old.
€50.000 is the absolute top for a mint condition car. So no high mileage cars which would normally sell for more if in mint condition.
To be driven mainly weekends and the eventual good weather weekday. Will be tracked for fun sometimes.

Corvette or Vantage I think... The 400hp & 2-seater limits it a lot.
Definitely NOT this!

I'm not whatsoever interested in the Audi. It doesn't do well with most of the criteria and RWD is in the must side.
Of course you’re quite right, it is AWD not RWD which was one of your ‘must haves’, so I was taking a bit of a liberty here. My thinking was that the R8 typically diverts just 15% of power to the front wheels (min 10%, max 35%) so whilst not a Drift Car, it’s not a Defender either. By my reckoning, the R8 does match 11 of your other 12 criteria though: LHD, manual transmission, mid engine, 400 bhp + stock, real 2 seater, hardtop, western, naturally aspirated, less than 15 years old, €50k without high mileage, rear mid engine (albeit not your ideal front mid engine).
Doesn’t mean you like it though. That’s always the hidden final criterion in car buying: “and I want one”. In my experience, has often trumped all the others...

Sure the R8 may match 11 of the 12 points. But missing a must basically means disqualification. There is a reason it is a must. Apart from that it misses some ideal points as well. All together just the wrong car.

You can easily get the Aston for under £50k in the UK (but I'd question whether it's actually a sports car).
I'm on LHD land.
Here they cost more, as do any other car. Cars in the UK are given away in comparison.
But you can indeed get something like a DB7 i6 for less than 50K. Although it will be something with 70K-90K on the clock. And yes, I agree. Not a sports car at all. Pretty much no Aston is. Unless you are talking about the Vulcan, which is actually a track car. But even the V8 Vantage, which is supposed to be the sports car of the line isn't really a full on sports car.
