I usually get a cheap (ish) motor factor type 075, and I make sure it has top-up ports on it.

I say ish because nothing is as cheap as it used to be.... My last one has kept going for 4 or 5 years but might be wearing out a little.

Phone round your local factors and find out who's doing a deal.

Also lead is worth quite a lot at the moment so you might get a fiver back at the local metal recyclers.

Just looked on the flea new ones for £42 delivered. e.g. 261773129801

if you don't use your wedge often or during the winter it's always best to use a top-up charger and/or remove the earth lead for lay-ups. It's the total discharges that tend to knacker batteries.

Having said that I have rescued the Jeep battery from total flatness about 4 times now, and it's still going strong after 8 years, it has a big white crusty deposit on the outside. Must make a note of the make because it's almost indestructible!

I checked with the seller and that item is a sealed unit.

I always go for top-uppable myself. I once had a sealed one and they don't last as long.

There are a few more on the flea around the £42 mark though.
