I'm looking at getting a new car via a work salary sacrifice scheme - my commute is a daily 90 mile round trip, almost entirely motorway. I've narrowed it down to either a Prius or a Kia Cee'd (diesel) - both come in at a similar monthly cost - but I'm struggling to decide between the two. What are your thoughts on which is most suitable?

Probably the Kia, if running costs are the priority. Hybrids don't tend to do as well as a diesel at the motorway cruise stuff.

Honestly though I'd try both and take the one you hate the least.

Kia for me (I have one). It's very boring to drive but so what? How fast do you need to get to work?!

It costs almost nothing to run. No road tax, 55+mpg average on the motorway, £190 insurance. Nobody tries to race you or steal it etc. 60k on mine so far, tyres, brakes and servicing are the only small bills.
For a commuter I love it.

I would go with a Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSi. My wife has the previous version, very smooth engine and very quiet and comfortable too. Able to take 4 adults, good visibility and under 4 metres for town parking. Her car has a full size spare and the tyres are cheap (Conti premium contacts)

Have a shop around and see if the salary sacrifice scheme is actually good value. Some of the ones I've seen people on here posting about, you'd be better off with a personal contract hire or even PCP. The rates ( unless subsidised) are often not the best market rates.
