Private place question with HPI Check
Discussion
Hi
So my car search saga continues.... Another car I am interested in has come up with this on a hpi check. If I read correctly it means:
The car was first registered with LT64VW
Then the car was registered with the plate V666CSB (probably the first private owner)
Then the plate was transferred to a 911 Turbo, which has outstanding finance on it
So no risk?
The description on hpicheck.com says
This will show every legitimate plate change since April 1990. You are advised not to buy a car until it has been given the all clear under all its previous plates.
So as the private plate is on a car with oustanding finance, is this an issue? Would be silly if it is.
The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 20/07/2017
V666CSB was registered to this vehicle on 23/12/2015
This license plate has been recorded as having an outstanding finance agreement or loan
An outstanding finance agreement or loan was recorded on 29/07/2017 against a 911 991 TURBO COUPE 2DR
LT64VWL was registered to this vehicle on 30/09/2014
There are no alerts recorded against LT64VWL

Exactly the same issue has just arisen on the car I'm selling. I've owned it for over 5 years and I paid for it outright from a motor trade outlet.
The trader who collected it from my home did an HPI check and it showed that a plate that had been registered to the car before I bought it has outstanding finance on it. It's very odd that this should have flagged up but totally inconsequential as the finance is not on my vehicle.

The car you are interested in, a Nissan GTR, was first registered on 30/09/2014................ reg no. LT64VWL
I am assuming the car was first registered with the dealership and its next owner changed the reg to a private one.....V666CSB on the 23/12/2015.
It looks to me as though it stayed this way until 20/07/2017 when the owner then transferred his private reg to a very nice Porsche.
At or around this time the original registration.....LT64VWL is returned by the DVLA back to the Nissan GTR.
This all sounds quite legit, and the Nissan's previous owner has now bought himself a nice Porsche on finance.
If the HPI was done recently, on the Nissan with the registration LT64VWL and it came back clear then everything should be ok.
Are you buying this private or from a dealer ?
With a car of this value surely the dealership can guarantee this car is free from finance or any other problems in relation to past private plates.
Very nice looking car by the way
