According to my Dad (who once found himself on the phone to Alastair Darling), the best thing to do with politicians is to keep the cameras rolling and engage them in conversation about your work. It won't be long before they trip themselves up with their own cluelessness. Dad was redesigning Edinburgh Waverley station and Darling didn't seem to have a clue as to what planning permission entails.

Charles Kennedy did it the other day regarding his own taxation policy and it made great comedy telly
