I've had some good deals on Shpock over the last couple of years since it was launched. However, the test of any service is when things go wrong. Recently I've had two examples of this. Firstly, people buying items and then not showing up - this is just time wasting. Secondly, I've just had an example of where I have paid for something which subsequently hasn't been delivered (paid by bank transfer [Yes, I know] having checked the user's feedback etc. This is much more serious.
When you raise an issue with Shpock the ultimate irrelevance of their "legally binding" spiel becomes obvious. Users ignore this, obviously, as what are Shpock actually going to do. As an individual you can't pursue anything as Shpock won't provide details of the individuals you are dealing with due to privacy. As such, you can't do anything.
To say it is flawed would be an understatement.
In this instance the user appears to be trading on other classified platforms. I have their address, contact details, bank details etc but what is the likelihood of successfully recovering my loss (£20)?

Calls itself the "Boot sale app" doesn't it? I don't know about you big city folk but the car boot sales in Central Lancashire are a mixture stolen goods sold by chancers, out of date junk food sold by UKIP voters, 80s board games sold by the mentally ill and grannies house clearance tat that the family's thought was not good enough to go to charity shops.
Is that it?
Is that it?
I find it a bit more chav than gumtree
How ever I find most of the sellers a bit slow on the uptake which often means they don't know the value of what they are selling
The fact that it walks you through the buying process makes it a bit smoother than gumtree
Both are full of some proper freak though
