VW Touareg 2.5 TDI vs 3.0 TDI - help please can't decide!
Discussion
I'm a long term owner of a 2.5.
They're significantly cheaper to run. It's managed 800 miles on a tank half a dozen times. Brakes are cheap. Tax is cheap. No timing belts or chains to worry about.
The 3.0 will go better, be more refined and stop better.
Depends on what your prioritising. For me the biggest and most obvious difference is in stopping power.

We owned a 2005 2.5 TDI and was pleasantly surprised. However I never drove the 3.0 TDI and I’m sure it is a better car all round. We kept our options open and bought the best value one we could find when looking. Which turned out to be a 2.5. We ran it for a year and sold it for more than we paid for it. Only a few hundred quid, but we were very happy with the experience.
