Hi folks, we have managed to get a last minute trip to London this weekend (Fri-Mon) and will be staying right next to Tower Bridge.
I am trying to come up with a plan and would love it if someone could recommend decent places in the area, we like all kinds of food (I know that doesn't narrow things down!)

We are getting breakfast at the Sky Garden on Saturday and will probably have lunch at Hawksmoor at some point.

I quite fancy treating herself to a nice afternoon tea somewhere, thinking of Brown's, The Goring or The Mandarin Oriental? Any other suggestions welcome.

Also non-food related but is there any tips to getting last minute theatre tickets? Prices look ridiculous online so was wondering what the chances are of picking up tickets at Theatre Box Office or one of the stalls/cabins you see all over the place?
Would love to see the Harry Potter theatre show but imagine tickets are like gold dust?!

Any other things on this weekend we should check out?
Thanks in advance

Love the Sunday brunch at The Landmark, Marylebone. Expensive but well worth it.

Thanks guys, The Ned looks good, especially the vault bar but think that may be members only. Will have a wander round Borough, so much choice so would hate to choose a dud

The restaurants and bars on the ground floor are non-member. You can walk there from Tower Bridge/Sky Garden easily, take in other interesting parts of the city on your way.

Unfortunately at this short notice you will find it hard to get into any of the places you mention for breakfast, lunch, brunch or afternoon tea. My suggestion would be to make a list and start ringing around now for cancellations. Places like the goring and Ned are booked up a month in advance minimum.

Pubwise, The Draft House on Tower Bridge Road has always been pretty decent when I've been there - decent food as well.

Mandarin is my OH's favourite for afternoon tea, and she's an expert at that stuff!

Borough's a good shout. Market Porter for beer. (And the street round the corner is Lock, Stock.

If you've never been on it, the Eye is pretty good and a nice walk along the South Bank...

Reliable source of theatre special offers here
http://www.theatremonkey.com/CURRENTSPECIALOFFERS....

Half Price Ticket Booth in Leicester Square (right in the middle) is the best place for on-the-day cheap tickets
https://officiallondontheatre.com/tkts/
Be wary of all the other little shops and booths, they almost all add enormous fees to cheap tickets.

There is the annual "New Year Sale" on at the moment (used to be called "Get Into London Theatre"), some bargains to be had
https://officiallondontheatre.com/new-year-sale/

You've next to no chance of seeing Harry Potter, Hamilton, Mormon or any of the other biggies without booking weeks if not months ahead (or paying someone well over the odds).

You will find walking around London at night quite busy this weekend because of the Lumiere festival
https://www.visitlondon.com/lumiere/programme
Westminster Abbey seems to be the exhibit that is getting most people excited.

If it's just a pub you want, try the Kings Arms in Tooley Street. My new/current favourite pub in the area.

Decent beer and food (not loads of choice, but the burger is epic), eclectic decor, and some evenings they have a guy on a pair of vinyl decks playing 80s and 90s music. Perfect!

Thought I better pop back in and put closure to this thread. Many thanks to all that took time to post with tips and recommendations, it is appreciated.
We had a cracking weekend despite the weather and managed a few off the touristy things- Sky Garden, Tower Bridge attraction, Harrods, and the Tower of London night time tour (loved this) .
Food and drink wise I entered lots of your suggestions in to Citymapper but in the end we just winged it and popped in to places that looked good.
We did end up in Hawksmoor Seven Dials twice for drinks as i think Shakey Pete's Ginger Brew is the best thing ever created, the burger was pretty special too.
In the Tower Bridge area on Bermondsey St we can highly recommend Flour and Grape/214 Bermondsey pasta restaurant. It smelt fantastic as we walked past and despite looking for a Steak place the smell was too much to ignore. Friendly vibe, good service and the pasta was absolutely glorious, we both agreed that the Tortelloni was the best pasta dish we have ever tasted.
You will need 3 dishes between 2 of you tho as portions are small.

Small mention for a place called Village East- nice breakfast and a cracking cup of coffee.

Finally thanks for the tip on Borough market, we visited on Saturday morning and it was great, very busy and vibrant, the smells coming from the food stalls were lovely, so much choice. Saw a pasta place there possibly called Padela?? The queue was massive, is it worth a visit to next time?

We are down for a week middle of March, few tips their we may try. Borough Market and walk along south bank, need to try this Shakey Peters Ginger Beer, Tower of London night time tour, sky garden.

Staying in Kensington (was planning more Covent Garden initially but......) and a few things planned already.

Ferrari at design museum
Harry Potter theatre double bill ( for the other half)haven’t seen the films but actually looking forward to it.
Ledbury lunch
Heathrow behind the scenes and lunch with virgin (charity auction bid)
Spurs v Newcastle (if I can get a couple of tickets)

Looking forward to the week as not been down for about 15 years.

Worth noting the two markets are very different - Borough is wholly food-orientated, whereas Camden in more clothing (usually alternative), some art/collectibles, music and some hot food stalls.

Easy to do both, as they are on the same tube line though (Northern Line)..
