side screens on a westfeild?
Discussion
are they any good?
just tried my westfeild for the first time without the doors on and its like theres a gale blowing into the side of my head!!!!
also does anybody use the hood for them only? i can seem to get in but getting out is really hard! (although i've only tried once, and i nearly killed myself!) are they any good???
I purchased some perspex wind deflectors to try and cut down the wind, a lot of people on the WSCC seem to think they work, but I still found it too uncomfortable, and went back to using my doors.
I try and use the roof as little as possible, although it doesn't go up as easily since I fitted the RAC rollbar.

I put some small rubber deflectors on the front cycle wings to slow down the speed of flying stones and the like hitting the rear arches, although the best cure is also to put guards on the rear arches. What model have you got and can tell you where to get and what to get.
Dern, get back in the garage!!!!!.Will bell you this week.

Started that job in Reading this week (well, last friday) and am knackered. Still, got the diff hangers welded in and the whole rear of the chassis welded up too this weekend. Just need to do the roll bar now but I need to get the angle grinder out so aren't allowed to do it until sunday. Later,
Mark
When i had a screen fitted to the Westy, it had some perspex wind deflectors.
I found they worked upto about 45-50mph and became useless at quicker speeds. Having fitted an aero-screen and removed everything to do with having a screen, i prefer the aero. Plus, an aero seems to have less buffeting.
Just my humble opinion

I thought you may be interested in a quote from "Flying on Four Wheels - Frank Costin and his car designs" by Dennis E Ortenburger
Costin was impressed by the Mark 7's performance and handling on the race track but found normal motoring to be annoying. 'Your hair blew forward over your eyes unless you wore one of those go-faster caps, which I don't really fancy as the sort of gear for a chap like myself. Your tie invariably seemed to flick from inside your jacket to dangle forward towards the windscreen or to slap you in the face. Your charming lady had her hair blown forward into her mouth or around her neck and it was most all most inefficient and untidy.'
Costin tried fiddling with the windscreen rake which helped somewhat but the real solution was an aerodynamic device. Frank recalled the work of Mr Townend and his Townend Ring, for example, the cowling around radial piston engines. Such a ring could reduce the drag of a circular flat plate by some 50 to 60 per cent, but more important to Costin's immediate problem was that it created a favourable wake. Frank made up some airfoil sections and positioned them around the Mark 7's windscreen. Once adjusted he could drive the car at most any speed with his tie in place and his hair blowing comfortably rearward. He eventually wool tufted the rear tonneau cover and even managed to get the air flow in this area straight back also. In Costin's words 'all very enchanting and enjoyable but it didn't enchant Colin however, too unusual and not sufficiently Old Kent Road to sell I suppose.'

get yourself a smart lookin skid lid mate and get the foot down!
50 mph aint enough to get your cheeks flapping, your vision wobbling and your eyelids turning inside out, you need to be doing about 120 before it really messes you up! :-)
Besides, the chicks will go mad for it - I should know, I have to sit beside My partner (Madinzeheid) when hes wearing his, and the looks and attention you get from passersyby is well worth the extra few quid of buying a helmet lol lol
Plus you will be able to drive much quicker as well.
just a few observations
