I have been doing some housekeeping and realised I have over 70 domain names; almost all of them with 123-reg... who seem to be charging £20 inc. VAT per year per .com. Doing the math; that's a lot of money down the drain as I only really use eight of them.

I don;t want to cancel them as many might be used down the line; so where can I transfer them to; need a genuinely cheap domain registrar who is competent and offers full control over name servers, etc.

I see Dynadot do .com's for £7.99 and that isn't an offer; it's their ongoing price... another called NameSilo appear to be cheap... can anyone match / better that...

Thanks chaps; namecheap look good; standard low price. 1and1... low intro and then quite a bit more per year.

Thanks for the tips.

Google Domains.

Not the cheapest, but then I find the cheapest tend to charge you more for even the basic stuff.

Google are a good choice too.

I would say consider if you're likely to want/need any domains other than .com as some registrars support less TLDs than others so you end up with several registrars if you're not careful.

Also remember you can split out things like DNS and hosting from the registrar (apologies as you probably know this) so whilst I agree with Jammy-git that you get what you pay for, if you know that all you're paying a registrar for is to be a registrar it avoids any unpleasant surprises.

+1

Long time customer of 123 Reg but their attitude to their customers is appauling. Namecheap have been brilliant to deal with and I go through them for any new domains I'm purchasing.

Yes I’m erring toward Namecheap... I’d end up saving several hundreds of pounds if I do a bulk transfer... will hopefully get onto it next week.
