In that photo, no. It might be a bit of a shock for someone come 1am, though...

Yes when its dark especially.

I would actually say that was good thinking, vegetation like that might not be obvious if someone isn't 100% focused, at least that tabard gives a bit more of a chance.

Dunno.

At night, no streetlights, unfamiliar road, not expecting a blocked road? A reflection off the hi-viz (which can be seen at some distance with decent headlights)might give an unsuspecting motorist a heads-up.

Police and councils were flat out last night and early this morning so may not have got around to all blockages, especially on minor roads.

You can't get that much speed up on this road. It's a tiny little back road with corners etc.

It's so bad that some idiot wrote a one of my cars off there in 2010. Came steaming around the corner in the snow and couldn't stop. Ploughed straight into me.

Well there you go,

Go steaming around the corner at night on an unlit road and suddenly you're faced with tree that you may or may not have noticed. Could you stop in time?

I wouldn't go steaming around a corner on an unlit road, let alone on a road like that.

And yet you're asking why measures have been taken to stop the terminally unobservant harming themselves?

No. I just thought it was funny seeing the high viz on the tree.

The high viz wouldn't have stopped the idiot who crashed into me. You can't do a lot for someone driving really fast on a single track back lane, in the snow at night, can you.

You could chop a tree down in front of them?
