Where to post?
Discussion
My apologies, but I can’t find an appropriate section of the forum - I won’t post details here in case it’s the wrong place, but can anyone advise on where here is best to ask a question about my 6 year old daughter who is suffering anxiety problems?
It’s school/perfectionism related (not a bullying related issue), and I will be speaking to school (who are apparently aware of it according to her), but if possible I’d like some advice from people who have been through similar situations.

Thank you!
Basically, my 6 year old has been complaining of a ‘sore tummy’ for about 6 months now. Tonight, she finally said to me that she gets a sore tummy at school because she’s worried she’s going to get things wrong. She’s a clever little girl, and doing very well, and has been marked out by teachers as well ahead (she’s an August baby, so youngest in her year).
I’ve told her that getting things wrong is part of learning, and I’ve also told her the trick of having a ‘bin’ in your head to put worries in (standard counselling advice, that’s what my counsellor told me!). She’s very upset and worried.
There is family history here, my dad and I were/are both the same. I’m separated from her mum (who happens to be a teacher, but not at the same school, and secondary anyway) - we get on very well and there is no friction. I went through hell as a kid, and an adult to be honest for exactly the same perfectionist reasons, and I don’t want her to go through the same. As she’s only 6 I’m hoping there is a way we can avoid this.
Any advice would be very welcome. I guess my first port of call is school, especially as she told me a teacher had already told her about ‘the bin’.
Thanks.
