moving to a cerb(1997 4.2) from a caterham.

Do the cerbs suffer from oil starvation or aeriated oil on trackdays.

If so, what are the remedies ?

Since losing my first 4.2 engine to oil surge under braking I always overfill the oil on any track day and sprint by about 1/4 to 1/2 litre- perhaps a little more if there are very steep gradients. also check the oil before evry session-they can use a surprising amount when driven very hard

I also check the diff and gearbox oil before a track day. itakes about 1/2 an hour but it is a cheap insurance policy.

jellie - that's rare, maybe the 4.5 system is a bit more tolerant? Certainly TopCats run the standard wet sump system on their slick-shod 2-seater tuscan racers, but I guess very overfilled. B19TOY ran his 4.5 on slicks for very many track days and didn't suffer oil surge.

Always make sure the oil is topped up to maximum after every session and you should be fine.

Certainly it's not like the K-series Caterham, where the longitudinal mounting of the transverse engine design coupled with sticky tyres and hard cornering almost guarantees oil starvation.
