Over on the thread about Evo one of the posters stated the below, it got me thinking, so what's the biggest load of BS a director or manager at your place of work has told you, and turned out to be utter nonsense? Hopefully could illicit some amusing stories.

"It's one of the common attributes of leaders that they have an almost sociopathic ability to ignore advice and evidence, and plough on with their own "vision" regardles"

Mine is during my short stint working in the public sector, just before Christmas our tw*t of a Director announced that by Easter our entire function would be outsourced and we'd be working for another company by Easter, in total about 250 people, you can imagine that was a lovely Christmas. And guess what, yep, it was never mentioned again upon returning to work in January! Needless to say it was another thing that convinced me that me & that public sector weren't compatible.

So, any amusing stories, got to be some utter drivel you've all been told?!

Although I am a contractor myself an other contractors were made to attend a values course for the company we were working for.

There the presenter told us she has litterally jumped in thr street on hearing the firm was no longer owned by the goverment. When asked why who owning the shares made a difference she could not answer...whole thing was 3 hours of corporate bullst

We can't pay you this week, the director had a motorbike crash, broke his fingers & can't sign the cheque.

That one went to court.

Almost everything our MD says is BS. What on earth we get for £450k/year I have no idea, but it seems he doesnt earn enough to pay back the £140k interest free loan the business gave him 4 years ago.

Perhaps one of many reasons I handed in my notice.

“All the partners get on really well”
A year later, the partners in one office changed the locks so the partners in the other office couldn’t steal their files!

Within 18 months two of his sons had joined the company...

Keep 'em coming, my experience is that once you've been in work long enough you start to hear them twice, but occasionally I'm still dumb founded by those that seemingly don't care that you know they're lying.

I was on a corporate conference this week, some utter bo**ocks was talked by very senior, very well paid directors. What was funny was when a stone cold sobre colleague said of our director, 'is that really the best we can do'. Her honesty was both astounding and refreshing. And this was said in the conference room and in no way under her breath!

New guy brought in to head Property at the parent office of my then largest client, which was a subsidiary.

I had survived numerous attacks on my position - probably the last supplier that had.

"we are not going to make any changes - just carry on" - What actually happened is he hoovered up all the tasks and kept them himself. 12 months later - You don't seem to be doing very much... Well no I bloody wouldn't when you don't pass it on...

next conversation was the "We have decided to give notice on the management contract... Can you give us a 'menu' price so we can instruct you individually..." As you can imagine given that he was outsourcing all of that work to CBRE all I was doing was wasting my time... Not that I spent a lot of time on it - the writing was on the wall....

“We’re going to make this the best place you’ve ever worked”

By cutting overtime all together , reducing the amount of bonus you can earn for doing extra work and upping the number of jobs we expect you to do each day, all for the same money you were getting paid 5 years ago. Oh and when you get hurt from being made to work like mad all day we’ll start getting rid of you.
They said the last bit under their breath I think.

At a team meeting we had to split into 2 groups to be told one group get back to work the other group you are redundant.

Happened again 2 years later at which point I thought to myself, WTF am I doing here and went off contracting as it was actually safer than being perm.

Going through TUPE, actually being taken on by main companu rather than working under a contraced company, what would be our new HR manager during consultation.

"Absolutely no changes, dont worry plus you will get new benefits of new company."

Reality, good bye pension and any benefits we had plus good bye any H&S (steelworks its needed)

6 months later =HR here's a new contract with the benefits and company pension and 3k pay cut.

2% pay rise announced buy dont get it on the old contract and refused the new contract.

"The company met all the targets we told you about but didn't meet an internal one that wasn't published so there won't be a bonus this year"

They were then surprised when I quit.

An Indian outsourcing company I had the displeasure to spend a year working for
