H4 or H7?

Okay, tried searching threads - still confused. Getting a standard M12 (2002 model) and I'm jsut ordering the bulbs in preparation. Do I need H4s or H7s? And how many?

All i know is they are not the ones in the owners manual!!!will check the man ual in a bit.

They were H4s when I replaced them in my 2.5l

H7s it seems for 3Rs and M400s (www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=26&h=&t=154586)

IIRC the 2.5l manual is wrong in that it states H7s.
