Are you a loss control specialist? Do you know any?

Hi,
I'm starting to think about my next career move, I say next but truth is I've been where I am for about 14 years and feel I'm reaching a natural end point/can't really see a way on that appeals to me in the current organisation. I'm in a technical role, started out in a white coat at the bench (which I still do from time to time) and now I pretty much sit on the fence between pure chemistry and chem eng. I am degree qualified in chem. with a PG masters in process design, focused really on upstream stuff - refining, petrochem plants etc. A bit of a jack of all trades type, I'd say my strengths were in project mgmt, reporting, analysis, risk assessment rather than chemistry. I've been involved in design work for major plant investments, mincing about with operators in day to day manufacturing operations, have spent time on the chemical plant floor, doing trials, continuous improvement, hazard studies, pretty much a little bit of everything.
On the face of it a loss control job would seem a good fit to my experience and abilities. But I know next to nothing about the insurance industry or the role. So, if any of you folk out there fancy enlightening me, I'd like to hear about your experiences. Either on thread of via PM, whatever.
