So... Might have made a small logistical screw up. I've got tickets for the family for Monster Jam in Cardiff on a Saturday in May. Then, I also entered The Etape Caledonia about an hour north of Edinburgh the following day. The ride starts at about 6am.

Initially I thought there was a 2150 flight from Heathrow to Edinburgh that I might be able to make as Monster Jam finishes around 1730. However, this flight doesn't seem to exist. So I need alternative ideas, it's not sensible to drive, plus the family needs the car.

So can anyone come up with a smart idea as to how I can make this work? All my kit etc will be taken to Scotland by my friends, and they can bring me home as well.

Yeah, that and the 8pm from LHR are my best bets. Essentially both are the same time as Gatwick is an hour from Heathrow. So the latest is screwed up by the additional distance.

Personally I’d just rent a car and drive. Pitlochry will take about 7hrs from Cardiff so you’d be there for 0030-0100 and can get a few hours kip in.

The Heathrow to Edinburgh flight is too tight but the Glasgow one might just work, the Gatwick one is possible but no guarantees and then if you miss it you’d have to drive through the night to Pitlochry anyway

This is where I'm thinking at the moment. It does mean that the Mrs either has to drive home with the kids, or get the train. Both are doable, but anti-social.

Thanks for the poster for all the flight times BTW. It's May 19th, the GLA option is the best, but as mentioned it's very tight.

And then you’ve still got the 2hrs from Glasgow to Pitlochry to contend with.

You’re going to be very tired!

The guys who are going up that Saturday are happy to pick me up from Glasgow or Edinburgh, so that's not a worry.

Also, I'd use my own car. Much nicer and cheaper than a rental

I don't think the other 4999 riders would be best pleased with me! https://www.etapecaledonia.co.uk

Time is simply too tight.

Maybe OP should consider leaving the Monster show early to meet both challenges v stuck in traffic and hold up 4,999 other joggers.

Not a bad shout. Southampton from short term parking to gate at that time of night will take about 5 minutes.

Bristol no late flights.
Birmingham no late flights.
Manchester no late flights.

Southampton is about as far as Heathrow, at Heathrow I have fast track so it's pretty quick through T5 late at night, especially as I'll have no luggage.
