Don't know anything about it, but here's the link. Will be a bargain if it remains at £510 .

........ am I being stupid , or do 390's have an option of 3500cc engines ?

It has got a 390 bonnet ,but I would n't mind seeing the back end , this is where we could do with Wodgers Wedgister .

....... or does anyone know the car ?

Probably a typo, Neil. Should read 3948; the 350 is actually 3528 not 3498.
Bonnet, spoiler, sills and arches are correct for a 390. Looks like it has a 400SE 'plank' boot spoiler (I prefer the Zender wrap-round one to the plank).
On the one hand it's a pity the bidding is going up so fast, but then if I was selling I'd want to see it doing the same...

As for keeping a secret, I bet I'm not the only person who has a 'Favourites' entry that reads "Ebay - TVR items" or similar....

Bodywork looks correct for a Series 2 390. Must be one of the last series 2's at F reg with the OZ split rims (although I guess they could have been added later). I wonder if this is one the last ones that were supposed to have things like 4 pot calipers?

NCK engine number would be nice, though Rangies had their own 3.9 by '88 so maybe TVR cheated and used that?
It'll probably have the later dash.
May not have 4-pots.
Check chassis tubes near (especially r/h) manifolds for corrosion/ splitting.
Sill tubes of course....
Get it warm and make sure the fan(s) kick in.
Don't worry about panel gaps, distorted bonnet... they all do that, Sir

etc. etc....

The car should have an NCK number. I only say this because mine does.
The dash will be the same as a 350i, although it may come with the later upside down speedo and rev counter.
Not sure about the four pots, I've not had to look at them. Although my literature for one states that it does come with "four pot competition calipers".
The 390 isn't massively different from the 350i, seeing that it was based on one. The differences will be the bonnet (we can see that in the photo), it looks like it has the OZ split rims (standard on the later 390s), it will have the rear bumper/lower spoiler similar to the later 400SEs, and have different side skirts. The rest of the differences are all mechanical, so will look pretty much the same as your 350i.

Nobody has commented that the engine is shown in the details as 3,498cc.

The body (air intake and lower front wheel arch) appears to be a Series 2 390SE (in keeping with date).

Great if it stays at that price!

(Who wishes 'tyre-kickers' would stay away. Five buyers have looked genuine over the past weeks, but all have cried off when I wouldn't let them drive - all of them were late teens/early twenties and all of them turned up in 'cooking cars'! I scared three of them with tail-out motoring round several local roundabouts. One might sue me for whiplash ... I did warn him before I dropped it into second .

Neil Hyde did, about two posts down from the top...

AS I said, it could be a cockup on the part of the seller (thinking a 3.5 is 3498, even though it was 3528 - AND the 390SE wouldn't be 3528 unless re-engined, in which case I'd want it cheap) or he meant to put 3948....

Been to sunny Derbyshire and looked at 390se I can confirm that the log book says 3498cc ????? engine number is NCK 096 Only 2 owners the present one for 12 years and a bloke in the big smoke who had it from new. Oil presure ok at 35 Fan kicks in at 90 cant tell what the calipers are but they look like big 2 pots. the bodywork is all correct for a 390se the clocks are as my 350 but upside down and sideways on
The sellers are very very nice people but NOT Pistonheads he has a very good reason to sell.

Cool. It was probably on the production line at the same time as mine. Mine was registered a week later, and the engine is three after that one.

Did you get the VIN? Richard Sails (Wedge Registrar) might be able to tell you if anything is known ... but with only two previous, you could make a telephone call to them - Streaky
