Ever since reading PH Carpool https://www.pistonheads.com/regulars/ph-carpool/me... I have had an itch.....an itch that I just will not go away!

I currently drive an Insignia VX Line Diesel..(I know but it was bought because I was doing a load of miles but the mileage has now dropped to about 8k Pa as I work mainly from home) It is a 2012 and does what it should but it is an Insignia!

This is the thing....I would be going from a fairly reliable car to an much older car and I know these have issues but 347bhp!!! also I am not very adept with the spanners and so would need a good indy garage to fall back on.

Is the C32 going to ruin me financially? is it likely to be off the road more than it is on?

I have had performance(ish) cars in the past Audi TT/TVR S1 (although was a toy so not used too much and when broken it didn't really matter and a BMW 530DM Sport.

I need an angel on my other shoulder to tell the devil to be quiet and stop whispering AMG in my ear!!!

I don't see why not. As long as you are realistic that it's 10+ year old car and will need a bit of love and maintenance on a regular annual basis. I bought my C55 to be my practical car. 5 seats, 4 doors, reasonable saloon boot, what's not to like?

If you intend to keep it then give it a good going over when you get it and sort out any mechanical niggles or mechanical things that may let go on a time/mileage basis.

Do it. You won't regret it, plenty of very good specialists out there.

I went for a CLS 55 AMG and it's brilliant.
