Quadrifoglio reliability
Discussion
Hi All, On one of the other Pistonheads pages it was suggested that I should think about a Quadrifoglio, I love the look of it. I do wonder about reliability, I’ve seen in a numver of forums some of the issues and wondered if either the problems were solved or were specific to the early cars? I do about 25,000 miles a year and therefore do need a reliable ride - any experience of doing high mileages or issues - from owners please
I've been reading a lot of the posts regarding the Quadrifoglio and they seem to be very positive with people suffering no problems, although one person had his back and forth to Alfa quite often with ECU issues if I remember correctly. Apparently there were a few software issues which have now been resolved.
I have spoken to others at various Italian car shows and they are very happy with them.
Remember, this is a new car and like most manufacturers, they will have teething problems and also this car went from paper to production at 18-20 months which is a pretty short time.

6000 miles in on mine, and some very hard driving including multiple full throttle autobahn blasts to 160+mph and not a single issue touch wood....
Going by the recent infrequency of posts on owners forums about reliability issues seeming as there are at least 400 out there in the UK now, I'd say post early software and ECU water issues which have been fixed from factory - all looks very good.
Do it, this is an epic car.

Nearly 12,000 on mine after a year, including high speed autobahn and long continental journeys.
No issues at all, even before the software recall.
Do it, you won't regret it.

For a car with 5000 miles or so what do you think I should be paying - idealy with elctric seats, carbon wheel , rosso tri coat and upgraded stereo and the dark 5 hole wheels?

Your choice is limited as there are only a few for sale. That will limit how much you can discount. For a car with 5000 miles or so what do you think I should be paying - idealy with elctric seats, carbon wheel , rosso tri coat and upgraded stereo and the dark 5 hole wheels?

Awesome car. Mine is an early one, (arrived Mar last year), 8000 mixed miles, although not on continent yet, I’ve had one issue with the software to be honest, but Alfa were great, all sorted, great customer service, loan car etc. A few very minor things to look for that I’m going to get them to sort at first service (boot catches the rear panel in the corner, little bit of trim coming away on panel by gear lever, plastic trim at base of windscreen and the filler cap cover is slightly proud). Overall I love it, definitely the right decision, lots of love for the car whilst out and about. Mine is exactly the spec you are after, I’d let it go for only 30% overs ;-) - well it is as deserved as a GT3! Good luck, I wholeheartedly recommend. Lots of talk on winter tyres, I would say worth thinking about with your mileage, although I have great fun pulling out of my drive in the country and straight up the hill at 5am every winter morning- first it pushes forward and then snakes up the hill for 100m!
From my own experience and what I see on forums etc it has been very reliable. There were some early software issues (sorted with updates) and the early press cars seem to have had a couple of issues but other than that very good indeed.
Alfa are taking reliability very seriously. Only qualified Quadrifoglio techs are allowed to work on them and any problems, no matter how minor, must be flagged with AR. These are then fed back to Italy and anything that needs changing is.
For example, the fuel filler flap seems to start coming away slightly so it's not exactly flush with the body over time. I raised this and it's being changed under warranty, apparently for a redesigned part .
I've driven 10,000 miles in 10 months. I've had 1 warning light come on which was due to a connector coming loose. No issues since.
The car is epic.

13k on my Quad at the moment. Used as a daily commuter, and done a few continental trips (Le Mans, Nurburgring).
No issues, bar software updates that were done at the first service, and minor cosmetic issue (again resolved at service). Also, my dealer (H.W.M. Walton-on-Thames) have been fantastic. Ben, in their service department, has been extremely helpful with any problems or advice.
Loving the car in every way otherwise!

Somewhere in this thread refers to water getting into the ECU. I know that the latest QF's have had little trays fitted underneath the bonnet grilles in order to prevent water seeping through on to the alternator. Do these trays also deal with the water in the ECU problem ?
Also, a pal of mine who ordered his QF with every conceivable option has had his delivery date put back twice. He hopes to get it next Thursday. The last excuse given by Alfa was that the wrong oil had been put into his car and four others.

Mine is now 8 months old, I have done 11,500 miles, tracked it at Brands and had a brilliant time with it. I have never put Winter Tyres on a car before this one, but given the performance and use I have made of it over the winter I think they were well worth it - but I’m looking forward to the Pzero’s in March!
Other than an over sensitive alarm in the first month, adjusted by dealer and worked perfectly since, I have had no problems.
This is a great car. Even managed 31mpg on a trip from Glasgow to Hampshire - although average is a pretty realistic 23mpg for slightly more enthusiastic driving ; )
